It was a dominant team effort for the LaGrange Grangers on Wednesday as they ran past Elite Scholars Academy for a convincing 67-48 win.
The Grangers were in control for the entirety of the game as the relatively inexperienced squad remains undefeated on the year (2-0) but will have more difficult games on the docket in the coming weeks.
The Grangers got everyone involved with 10 different players getting in the score column on Wednesday.
Bj Wortham, the only returning player from last year’s team that received significant playing time, led the team in scoring with 15 points. It was his debut after missing last week’s opener against Northgate.
Torian Reeves put on a show as well, finishing with 14 points — all in the first half — and throwing down a couple of rim-rattling dunks that lit up the packed student section.
No other Granger scored in double figures, but Javion Nelson and Zai Peagler finished with 9 and 8 points, respectively, to help the offensive attack.
The Grangers ran away with the game early and were able to build a 23-11 lead after the opening quarter. The lead was up to an unsurmountable 40-18 as the Knights could never find a way back into the game.
Just about the only negative for the team was the fact that they were a combined 2/9 from the free-throw line.
The Grangers will take a trip just up the road to play Heard County on Friday.
