The reigning state champion LaGrange Academy girls basketball team stayed undefeated with a 52-21 win over Fulton Science Academy in Atlanta on Friday.

It was mostly a two woman show on offense with senior leaders Anna Beth Kinnersley and Laura Knight leading the charge.

Kinnersley was a consistent double-double threat as the no. 2 option on the state championship team last year and has developed into a true no. 1 scoring threat this season. After scoring 27 points in the Warriors opening day win over Lafayette Christian, she tallied 23 on Thursday. The Warrior center earned a rest in the fourth quarter as all 23 points came in the opening 24 minutes of the game.

Knight scored 16 points, exactly eight in the second quarter and eight in the third.

Marley Hand, also a member of the state championship winning team last season, has stepped into a bigger role this season and finished the night with seven points.

The Warrior defense really only had to contend with maya Fernandez, who scored 13 of the team’s 21 points.

Lagrange Academy (2-0) will travel across town to play Lafayette Christian School again next Tuesday.
