The reigning state champion LaGrange Academy girls basketball team just cannot stop winning as they went on the road at claimed a 45-35 win over rivals St. George’s.

It was a struggle for both offenses throughout the game, especially in the early goings as the game was tied at 7 apiece after the opening quarter.

The second quarter was much of the same but Anna Beth Kinnersley was able to take over the game with eight points in the quarter, which allowed the Warriors to take a 19-17 at the break.

The Warriors used some suffocating defense and an offensive surge in the third quarter to pull away from their rivals. St. George’s never got back into the game in the fourth quarter as the swarming Warrior defense did not relent.

Kinnersley was the star of the show once again for the Warriors. She scored a game-high 18 points, which was her lowest scoring total of the season as the senior has gotten off to a tremendous start to the season.

Fellow senior Laura Knight and freshman Marley Hand each finished with 10 points apiece.

Bailey Heflin chipped in with seven points, including a big 3-pointer in the fourth that helped the Warriors ice the game.

LaGrange Academy (4-0) will be right back at it on Friday when the Warriors welcome Harvester Christian to town.
