The LaGrange Academy girls basketball team rode another big game from Anna Beth Kinnersely and some suffocating defense to top Harvester Christian 43-30 at home on Friday.

Kinnersley, who is averaging around 25 points per game, did it again on Friday with 28 of the team’s 43 points. Her tenacity on the offensive end is matched by her work on the defensive end as she has developed into one of the top players in GIAA this season.

The first half was a sluggish affair for both teams, especially in the first quarter as the Warriors had to settle for an 11-6 deficit after the opening quarter.

The Warriors finally found a second gear in the second quarter and were eventually able to build a 22-15 lead heading into halftime. Kinnersley scored all the Warriors’ points in the first quarter before completely taking over the game in the second quarter with 10 points.

The swarming defense of the Warriors did not relent from there, allowing just 15 points in the second half as well with Harvester never being able to get back into the game.

After being held scoreless in the first quarter, senior Laura Knight found her groove and scored 13 points over the final three quarters.Marley Hand was the only other Warrior to find the bottom of the basket and finished with two points.

Lagrange Academy (4-0) will host Holy Ground next Tuesday.
