Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The Lafayette Christian girls basketball team was able to edge out Trinity Christian of Griffin 34-33 on the road to earn their second win of the season.

Unsurprisingly, Carmen Bridges carried more than her fair share of the offensive and defensive load. She tallied 18 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists,  3 steals and 3 blocks and she stuffed the stat sheet to will her team to victory.

She also had a ton of help from Marta Oria, who finished the game with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. The only other Cougar besides these two that scored in the game was Regan Bryant, who finished with seven points. Her impact also went beyond scoring as she chipped in with 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 blocks.

Although the final score went the Cougars way, the first quarter was a real struggle. The team trailed 15-4 after the first quarter and had to dig out of that hole.

It started in the second quarter when the Cougars outscored the Lions 16-7 to cut the deficit to just two points at the break.

It was a back-and-forth second half in which the Cougars were able to do just enough to secure the victory.

Lafayette Christian (2-4) will rematch Trinity Christian of Griffin at home on Monday.
