Ann Johnson Woodward, 84, of LaGrange, Georgia went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023.

Ann was born Jan. 2, 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late William Washington Johnson, Sr. and Martha Lucy Callaway Johnson Bush.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William W. Johnson Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harold “Dee” Woodward; daughters, Lorie Woodward Anderson (Charles) and Cynthia Woodward Kosior (Tony); grandchildren, Collin James Kosior (Lydia), Kyle William Koisor and sister, Carol Johnson Kelley (Ronnie).

Ann was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange where she taught Sunday School, worked with the MYF, and was a member of the Altar Guild. 

Her volunteer service included the Junior Service League of LaGrange as a charter member, and the West Georgia Health Care Auxiliary (Pink Ladies) where she was a member and a past president.

As a professional, Ann taught school for the Dekalb County School System, Atlanta Public School System, and retired from Troup County School System. 

Her greatest joy as an educator was teaching 4th grade at Mountville Elementary School. During her 23 years there, she was awarded Teacher of the Year and named as a member of Who’s Who Among American Educators.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange, Georgia. 

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Dec. 14, 2023, at 11 A.M. at First United Methodist Church of LaGrange with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ann’s honor to the Wellstar West Georgia Hospice of LaGrange, First United Methodist Church of LaGrange or the Wesley Global Methodist Church of LaGrange.
