LPD: Man killed on Garfield Street was killed by man he was trying to rob

The LaGrange Police Department has determined that a man killed Wednesday night on Garfield Street was shot by a man he was attempting to rob.
The LPD said in a press release that Antonio Stephens and the deceased, Jonathan Daniel, conspired to rob Jesse Houston at gunpoint. During the incident, Daniel allegedly pointed a gun at Houston in an attempt to rob him, at which time Houston fired his own gun at Daniel in self-defense.
Stephens was arrested Thursday and charged with felony murder.
