LaGrange kicked off the new year in stylish fashion, dominating North Clayton 59-37 in the region opener for the Grangers.

The Grangers were off and running from the opening whistle and eventually took a double-digit lead in the first quarter before the Eagles were able to cut it down to just nine points heading into the second quarter.

The LaGrange defense swarmed the Eagles all night as the away team could not crack double figures until almost halfway through the second quarter. The Grangers took a 31-16 lead into the break as they controlled the game all the way through.

LaGrange did not let off the gas in the second half, outscoring the Eagles 25-21 over the final 16 minutes.

Torrian Reeves was everywhere for the home team and led the way on offense with 18 points. Zai Peagler chipped in with 11 points while Jarron Stafford had eight points.

It was not always easy for the Grangers on the offensive end on Tuesday, but they got the job done in large part thanks to some easy buckets in transition off of turnovers forced by their defense.

LaGrange has been on a hot start to the season, winning three in a row and 10 of its first 11 games with its only loss coming by seven points to a strong Lakeview team. The Grangers will travel to take on Whitewater in an important region clash on Saturday. The Grangers went 2-1 against the Wildcats last season but lost 60-57 when they met in the region tournament semifinals.
