Man accused of attacking officers, victim with knife

LaGrange Police have arrested a man on a plethora of charges stemming from an incident where he allegedly attacked and injured officers during a knife attack on Saturday.

Saturday evening, around 6:40 p.m., LaGrange Police were called to Miss Bubbles Laundry on  Ashton Street in reference to reports of a subject with a weapon.

Officers arrived and spoke with the victim, who stated that Lonzelle Turman had chased him and attempted to stab him with a knife. 

Police later located Turman at Hot Spot on S. Greenwood Street and he allegedly became physically combative and wielded a knife as they attempted to take him into custody.

According to an LPD release, officers received minor injuries, but they were able to physically restrain Turman and take him into custody.

LPD criminal investigators later responded and conducted an investigation into the incident. As a result of the incident, Turman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault against an officer, two counts of battery against an officer, terroristic threats, possession of a drug-related object and felony obstruction.

Turman is currently being held at the Troup County Jail where he was denied bond.
