Police nab alleged car thief

Police have quickly apprehended a car theft suspect hours after the vehicle was reported stolen from a LaGrange home.

Monday morning, around 9:41 a.m., LaGrange Police officers responded to the 200 block of Harwell Avenue upon reports of a stolen vehicle. 

Officers arrived and spoke to the vehicle owner who reported that the vehicle was left running in the driveway to warm up, and someone entered into it and drove off.

Later in the day, the stolen car was located nearby with Martez Williams in the driver seat and he was detained.

Williams was transported to the LaGrange Police Department and interviewed by detectives, where he admitted to stealing the car.

Williams, 33, was subsequently charged with auto theft.
