The GHSA swimming season is nearing its conclusion. The LaGrange swim team wrapped its season on Wednesday at the Danny Durham Invitational.

The team finished eighth out of 14 teams overall, two spots ahead of rivals Troup. The girls showed out in 400m freestyle relay, finishing third.

Freshman Kalynne Pressler was the star of the show for the Grangers, finishing 10th out of 86 participants in the 50m freestyle and finishing fourth out of 33 in the 100m backstroke. This was a week after she finished second in the 50m free and the 100m backstroke at the Carrollton meet. Pressler has a bright future ahead of her as she continues to grow in the program.

The lone boy swimmer on the team, Bruce Martinez, finished 11th in the 100m freestyle and 21st in the 50m freestyle. It was a strong finish to the season for Martinez who finished 6th and 10th in each category, respectively, last week at Carrollton.

The showing at Carrollton and the Danny Durham Invitational was so strong that head coach Brennen Wilkes said that all those who swam set personal bests to end the season.

At Carrollton, the 200m freestyle relay team finished sixth.

Hudson Wood, who did not swim at the Danny Durham Invitational, had a strong showing in Carrollton, finishing 14th in the 100m and 16th in the 50m freestyle.

Emilyn Scott finished 26th and 31st, respectively, in the 100m and 50m freestyle at the Danny Durham Invitational and finished 15th and 13th in those very same races at the Carrollton meet.

Karen Barrientos also took part in the 50m and 100m freestyle races at Carrollton and finished 17th and 16th, respectively. She finished 45th in the 50m freestyle at the Danny Durham Invitational.

Abigail O’Connor finished 40th in the 100m freestyle.

The Grangers will be back in the water in the fall for the 2024-25 season and will return practically its full roster of swimmers.
