Soon. That’s the word that has been on every coffee drinker’s lips since the new Starbucks near the Publix on Vernon Road put up a banner announcing they were opening soon.

Now it’s official. The new store will open Feb. 5.

Store manager Janell McNally said they aren’t currently planning anything special like a grand opening, but coffee connoisseurs can get their caffeine fix at the new location starting at 5 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 5.

McNally said she is excited to help open the new store. She previously served as the manager of the Tiger Town Starbucks in Opelika, Alabama but has shifted over to LaGrange at least for a little while.

The new store, while bigger than the current Starbucks on Lafayette Parkway, will provide the same menu offerings.

“We do have a bigger customer area. It’s just a different design is really what it comes down to but it’s beautiful. I love it,” McNally said.

She said they are expecting plenty of customers from the nearby WellStar West Georgia Medical Center as well as LaGrange College.

McNally noted that they aren’t planning anything groundbreaking or new at the location but Starbucks is rolling out its new Oleato beverage, which is Arabica coffee infused with a cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil. She said it’s launching on Jan. 30, so the other store in LaGrange will have it first.

“It’s an Italian thing that’s super popular over there,” McNally said. “Howard Schultz, one of our former CEOs brought it back and wanted to do it here at Starbucks.”

McNally said the Lafayette Parkway store is also helping them train new baristas, so they will be ready when they open in February.

The new Starbucks is located at Merganser Commons at Hills and Dales Farms Road in LaGrange

Hours for the new store will be Monday through Sunday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
