Janice P. Smith, 88, passed away on Jan. 24, 2024.

She was born to the late Jewell and Flora Pye in LaGrange, Georgia on July 23, 1935. 

Following graduation from LaGrange High School, she began working at Callaway Mills where she met the love of her life, Edwin T. Smith, whom she married in 1959.  

Moving to Barnwell, SC in 1970, Janice enjoyed spending time with her family as well as numerous church and social activities including golf, tennis, and bridge. 

After relocating to Chattanooga, TN in 1977, she furthered her education at Chattanooga State before beginning a career at the Tennessee Valley Authority.

 She was a member of Concord Baptist Church and enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines.

Janice is survived by her two children (Stuart (Dee) Smith of Madison, AL and Karla (Wesley) White of Gainesville, FL), four grandchildren (Colson (Anna) Smith, Allie (Calvin) Gayles and Summer and Katie White), and one sister (Geanell Cook of LaGrange, Georgia. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ed. Janice will be fondly remembered as a loving and fun-loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  

Celebration of life service will be held at Concord Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN at 2 P.M. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, with Dr. David King officiating. 

Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1 P.M.
