Mr. James E. Powell, age 94, of LaGrange, passed away on Jan. 28, 2024. 

Mr. Powell was born on Jan. 13, 1930 in Randolph County, Alabama to the late Elisha N. Powell and Cora Lee Ragsdale Powell. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Nelms Powell, sons, Tommy R. Powell and Ronnie E. Powell a grandson, Jeremy Arnold Powell and siblings, Jewel Mitchell, Nancy Nelms, Mary Parrot, Hobert Charlie Powell, Junior Powell, Betty Sue Crawford, Dot Swick and Jack Powell.

Survivors include his sons, James W. Powell (Janna), Edmond E. Powell and Arnold L. Powell (Shelia); sisters, Jettie Evans and Nadean Ford; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at 1 P.M. at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Pastor Anthony Hovey officiating.

 Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. 

Family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church beginning at Noon.
