Mrs. Annie LaMerle Bowles Childress, age 84, of LaGrange, passed away on Jan. 29, 2024. 

Mrs. Childress was born on July 9, 1939, in LaGrange to the late Odell Bowles and Leavada Williams Bowles. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Childress, first husband, Melvin Phillips, sister, Marie Gipson and brothers, Elbert Bowles, Lee Bowles and J. Roy Bowles.

Survivors include her children, Dennis Phillips (Valerie), Brenda Williford (Doug) and Bobby Phillips; sisters, Lois McDonald and Shirley Cadwell; grandchildren, Brandon Phillips (Katlyn) and Meagan Cribbs (Adam); great-grandchildren, Carter Cribbs and Ainsley Phillips; nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 at 2 P.M. at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel. 

Family will receive friends beginning at 1 P.M. at the funeral home on Friday.
