Mrs. Charlotte Estes McLain, age 90, of LaGrange, passed away on February 7, 2024. Mrs. McLain was born on March 15, 1933 in Troup County, Georgia to the late James Beecher Estes and Elsie Grace Smoot Estes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Syrol McLain, a daughter, Sherri McLain Kirby and a sister, Carolyn E. Skelton.
Survivors include her daughter, Terri McLain Smallwood; grandchildren, Levi Still (Brandie), Lauren Melissa Fountain (James), Britt Smallwood (Nicole) and Will Kirby (Shelby); great-grandchildren, Kannon Yates, Maddie Still, Allie Still, Ava Fountain, Asa Fountain, Cam Worthy, Louis Kirby and Oliver Smallwood; great-great-grandchild Myan Yates; sisters, Joan E. Perdue and Sandra E. Krauth; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mrs. McLain was the first registered member of Hillcrest Methodist Church; the backbone of her husband’s Piggly Wiggly grocery stores and McLain Administrations; a true Southern Lady and a loving Mother and Grandmother!
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel with the Rev. Randy Nix officiating. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 pm.
