The Callaway baseball team made it four wins in a row on Friday, beating Mundy’s Mill at home in a thrilling 5-3 encounter.

Brantin Swanson got the start on the mound and helped his cause early by driving in two runs in the bottom of the first on a single.

Swanson was superb on the mound in his six innings of work, allowing just four hits and two earned runs on nine strikeouts.

The only blip on the radar for Swanson was in the top of the second as Mundy’s Mill scored three runs to take a 3-2 lead.

It would not take long for the Cavaliers to find an answer, scoring two runs on the bottom of the third to retake the lead. Bryce Hubbard hit a one-run double to tie the game. Hunter Brown grounded out later in the inning to drive in Hubbard which proved to be the winning run.

The Cavaliers added an insurance run in the fifth inning as Swanson hit a sacrifice fly to make it 5-3.

Slade Hunt was a force of nature at the plate for Callaway, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Brown had two hits while Hubbard, Swanson, and Luke Taylor all had a hit apiece.

Callaway started the season 0-2 but has found its rhythm with four wins in a row. The Cavaliers will look to keep the winning streak alive next Thursday when they host Towers.
