Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Home sweet home. After starting their season with eight straight road games, the Troup Tigers finally got to play a game in front of a home crowd on Tuesday. It was a sweet showing from freshman Davis Moncus as well as he delivered the walk-off to give Troup a 4-3 win over Pike County.

With the bases loaded and one out, Moncus kept his cool under pressure and delivered a clutch seventh-inning hit. He showed a great eye at the plate and some patience to walk with the bases loaded and drive home that winning run.

Pike County opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first.

The Tigers dug in from there and eventually knotted the game up at a run apiece when Torreion Delaney came through with a two-out single that drove Davis Moncus home.

The Pirates were unfazed and retook the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third.

Troup halved the deficit in the bottom of the fourth when Moncus reached on an error that allowed Ethan Goff to make his way home.

The Tigers kept pounding away and eventually tied the game at three runs apiece in the bottom of the sixth. Chase Mosley hit a one-run single to get the Troup faithful off their seats. The Tigers almost had more, but Garrison Edwards was tagged out as he attempted to reach third base.

Demetrius Hardnett pitched one inning, allowing just two hits, before making way for Jake Perry. Perry pitched a strong five innings in which he struck out eight batters and allowed just three hits and no earned runs. Moncus pitched the final inning for the Tigers, striking out three while allowing just one hit.

Edwards, Mosley and Goff were all strong at the plate on Tuesday, generating two hits each. Carson Walker, Cason Spears, Hunt, Moncus and Delaney all had one hit apiece.

Troup (4-5) has won two games in a row after dropping their previous three games. The Tigers will look to get back to .500 when they take on Forest Park at home on Wednesday.
