Chuck (Charles E.) Franklin, 93, of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024.
Chuck was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Janet Franklin and son, Rick Franklin.
He is survived by his daughter, Jan Franklin; granddaughters, Ashley Franklin and Amber Franklin.
Chuck served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952.
He graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) in 1956.
He then began his career as Program Director at the Armed Services YMCA-USO in Columbus, Georgia and then became Assistant Manager of the Albany Chamber of Commerce.
He became the first Manager of the LaGrange Chamber of Commerce from 1962-1973.
He later moved to Florence, AL from 1973-1981 and became the Executive Director of the Florence-Lauderdale Industrial Expansion Committee and in 1982, he returned to LaGrange where he and his son Rick started and ran Franklin Printing.
Chuck was a member of LaGrange Elks Lodge #1084 and was a past State President. He was a member of the Optimist Club of LaGrange where he served as a past President. He was a founding member of Wesley Methodist Church in LaGrange.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Wesley Methodist Church located in the gym of Western Heights Baptist Church in LaGrange, Georgia.
