It was a tale of two halves at Callaway Stadium on Thursday as the Troup boys soccer team scored all six of their goals in the second half of a 6-0 region win against Fayette County.

It was not as if the Tigers did not have opportunities in the first half. Just in the final 10 minutes of the first half alone, Diego Merida skied a 1v1 against the opposing goal and Anthony Patrick put a header just wide.

The same can not be said for the second half as the Tigers put on a ruthless display with their efficiency in front of goal. Augusto Merida broke the deadlock less than three minutes into the second half.

Yuri Kim doubled Troup’s 13 minutes later with a free kick from a long way outside the penalty box.

The floodgates opened from there as Augusto got his second just a couple of minutes after Kim’s goal.

Ailin Mendoza got in on the fun with a goal in the 18th minute as did Diego Merida and Braidyn Patrick in the waning moments of the game.

Troup has now won three straight games to improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in region play. The Tigers will be back in action next Tuesday away to Starr’s Mill for another important region matchup.
