The City of LaGrange reported a major sewage spill that occurred on Saturday in the location of Creekside Drive, with Dixie Creek being the receiving waterway.

The cause of the spill was heavy rains that created excessive flow, which overwhelmed the lift station and allowed sewage to escape around the lowest manhole lid in the street, according to the report from the city of LaGrange.

The spill, which is estimated to be 185,800 gallons, was reported to the city of LaGrange on Saturday at 3:08 p.m. and was corrected on Sunday at 10:06 a.m.

Once the rain subsided, the lift station returned to normal operation and the overflow stopped. Plans are also in the works to upgrade the lift station and force main, the report said.
