LaGrange will officially have a three-way race for mayor after no new candidates qualified before Wednesday’s deadline.
Former District 1 Council member Jim Arrington, Racial Trustbuilding executive director Chalton Askew and CEO of Nonprofit Global Experts Israel Barsh all qualified for the mayor’s race Monday. No one else qualified on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Arrington resigned his council seat in February and announced his intention to run for mayor after the death of former LaGrange Mayor Willie Edmondson.
In the race for the District 1 seat, two candidates qualified— banker Forrest Johnson and home builder Darby Pippin.
The primary elections will be held May 21.
