The LaGrange baseball team hit the road on Monday for a non-region matchup against Northside and earned a dominant 17-3 victory.

The Grangers broke the deadlock with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth on an error.

LaGrange broke the game wide open in the third sith four runs. Grady Westmoreland got the scoring started for the Grangers in the inning with a one-run single. This was just the start of a big day for the junior, who finished 4-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Brandon Bennett hit a single later in the inning to drive in two runs and make it 5-0. Malike Kemp drove in the final run of the inning on a single.

The Granger offense was off and running from there and scored five runs in the following inning to take a commanding 11-0 lead. Tanner Langley got the action started with a one-run single. Rob Skinner drove in the following two runs with a single of his own. Kemp walked to drive in the 10th run of the game before Jackson Bozeman reached on an error to drive in the final run of the inning.

The Patriots eventually got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the fifth, but it only prolonged the inevitable as LaGrange scored six runs in the sixth to trigger the mercy rule.

Langley walked with the bases loaded to score the first run of the inning before Westmoreland brought home the next two with a single. Cooper Stephens hit a single to bring home a run and Skinner drove in his second and third runs of the game with a single to close out the scoring in the game.

Westmoreland was the star on offense, but he was far from alone. Skinner had two hits and four RBIs. Langley also had two hits and scored three runs.

Stephens also had two hits with Gryson Cockrell, Mason Calhoun, Laken Tippy, Bennett and Kemp all had a hit apiece for the Grangers.

Kayden Sutton got the start on the mind and pitched a strong four innings, allowing just two hits on four strikeouts. Caden Wood pitched the final two innings.

LaGrange is now 14-5 on the season. The Grangers will travel to take on Central High School on Wednesday.
