On March 26, around 11:10 a.m. Troup County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 1900 block of Old Chipley Road in reference to reports of a subject making threats to kill the caller.

TCSO was also informed that the suspect Derson Deshawn Young had outstanding warrants for felony probation violation with an original charge of possession of weapons or drugs by a prisoner.

Deputies were able to make contact with an adult female inside the location via phone who confirmed Young was in the house along with a 16-year-old male. The female initially stated she was unable to leave the house due to a medical condition, but when deputies arrived the juvenile exited the home and met with units on scene.

According to TCSO, Young refused to come out of the house. Due to the adult female still being inside and his refusal to leave, a search warrant was acquired for the location and a tactical response team from the Georgia Department of Public Safety was called in.

Around 3:17 p.m.,  Young was taken into custody after entry was made by the tactical team without further incident or injuries.

Young, 42, was arrested and booked into the Troup County Jail where he is currently being held without bond on charges of terroristic threats (FVA), felony probation violation, exploitation, abuse, or injury to disabled adult or elderly subject and obstruction of officers.
