The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Tornado Watch is in effect for much of northwest and west Georgia including Troup County through 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase into the overnight hours, some of which are expected to become severe. Damaging wind gusts, tornadoes, and large hail are possible through early Wednesday morning before ending from west to east.
Showers and thunderstorms will move across the area this evening through early Wednesday morning. An Enhanced Risk (level 3 out of 5) covers most of the area, including all of west Georgia, with a Slight Risk (level 2 out of 5) elsewhere. Damaging winds, tornadoes, and hail up to one inch will be the primary threats. Stronger storms may also produce locally heavy rain. Storms are slated to come to an end late Wednesday morning with the passage of a cold front.
