The Callaway soccer teams hit the road for a non-region matchup against Central (Macon) on Monday. It was an extremely successful trip for the team as the girls won 2-1 and the boys won 6-0.

Girls:

CALLAWAY – 2

CENTRAL- 1

The girls had to dig deep for their win on Monday evening.

Mary Kate Baswell put the Cavaliers in front in the 24th minute when she latched onto a pass from Sofia Flores and put the ball in the back of the net.

The game stayed 1-0 into the halftime break. Central eventually leveled the match 14 minutes into the second half.

The Baswell-Flores connection would come in clutch again as Baswell played in a corner that Flores got on the end of and headed home with just eight minutes left in the game.

Alayna Leithleiter made three saves in goal to help ensure Callaway left with the win.

Callaway improved to 12-5 on the season. The Cavaliers will be at home against Sandy Creek on Wednesday.

Boys:

CALLAWAY – 6

CENTRAL – 0

The boys found Monday’s contest to be much easier. It was complete domination for the Cavaliers who never gave Central an inch of space.

Jayden Bailey opened the scoring in the sixth minute and the Cavaliers were off and racing from there. Senior Greyson Batchelor scored big first of two goals just before the half to send the game to the break at 2-0. Braylon Bowles, D’Arcy Harris and Rickey Vaughn all had second half goals as did Batchelor as Callaway killed the game off before the final whistle.

Vaughn finished with two assists while Batchelor and Journee Jordan had one each.

Braydon Morris did not even have to make a save in goal to earn the clean sheet.

Callaway improved to 12-4 on the season and will face Sandy Creek on Wednesday at home.
