Troup needed a late rally and got one on Tuesday night, coming from behind to stun Trinity Christian for an 11-5 victory.

The Lions got the better of the game in the early goings, taking a 1-0 lead after one and a 2-0 lead after the second inning.

Troup eventually halved the deficit in the top of the third when Gisher Baltzell hit a solo home run. The Tigers could make no further inroads until the sixth inning.

Everything came together for the offense in the top of the sixth as the Tigers scored six runs to take a 7-2 lead — their first of the contest. Brady Willis got the Tigers on level terms with a one-run single. Two batters later, Baltzell came through again when he took a walk with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run.

This set up freshman Davis Moncus perfectly and he delivered with a mammoth hit as his grand slam flew over the left field wall to make it 7-2.

Baltzell was not content with one home run and just had to one-up Moncus by hitting a grand slam of his own in the top of the seventh. Coincidently, it was also on a fly ball to left field.

Baltzell has been on a tear as of late as he just hit for the cycle a week and a half ago.

On Tuesday, he was 2-for-4 with six RBIs and three runs scored. Moncus was also 2-for-4 and finished with four RBIs and a run scored.

Garrison Edwards, Carson Walker, Ethan Goff, Chase Mosley and Willis all had a hit apiece for the Troup offense.

Demetrius Hardnett got the start on the mound and pitched 6 ⅔ innings striking out 10 batters while allowing just four hits. Kaleb Woodson came in to get the last out of the game in the seventh. Woodson got the final out, but an error cost the team three runs before doing so.

Troup has now won six of its last seven games and improved to 14-9 overall and 6-3 in region play. The Tigers will be back on the diamond on Wednesday at home to Trinity Christian.
