Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

It was a special occasion on Wednesday as Callaway celebrated its largest class of girls senior soccer players in program history. In total, 10 girls soccer players — Mary Kate Baswell, Aylin Ulloa, Jay Bussey, Hismary Camposeco, Autumn Brown, Rosa Gomez, Scotty Payne, Kaylie Flores, Deyany Velasquez, and Kadence Leithleiter — were honored as the rain tried to ruin their big day. It almost did as the game was put in a lightning delay for some time, but the Cavaliers were ultimately able to prevail 3-0 on senior night.

Isla Garcia stole the show, scoring two goals. Baswell made her senior night even more memorable with a goal. Ulloa also made her senior night special with an assist. Freshman Norma Trinidad also got an assist in the game.

Alayna Leithleiter made seven saves in goal to keep a clean sheet.

Callaway improved to 12-5 on the season. The Cavaliers have already locked in a two-seed in the playoffs and a home game against East Jackson next Thursday, but the team will play one last regular season game to prepare for the postseason in a rematch against Sandy Creek on Friday.
