Landis Simeon Blitch, born March 13, 1935, died Feb. 2nd in Lagrange surrounded by family and his beloved cat, Mespot.
Sim was a businessman, farmer, and cattleman.
Sim is survived by his “better half”, Caroline Nelson, his sons, Seth Bryan Blitch (Kori) of Zachary LA and Shane Hardy Blitch of Portland OR.
He leaves his beloved grandchildren, Maya Evelyn (Thomas) and Elan O’Brian Blitch of Austin TX, and Harrison Applegate Blitch of Boston MA.
Sim also leaves two he loved as a his own, Kelly Mauldin (Julie) and Jerri King (Eric) of Atlanta, and their children Chasity Nicole Mathis, Cody Marshal Mauldin, Nathan Randall Morrison, Elijah David King and Summer Caroline King.
Originally from Ocala Florida, Sim attended the University of Florida where he excelled in everything …but Golf. With a degree in Agriculture, he returned home to farm.
Sim started his second career in 1992, when he moved to Lagrange to be with his childhood sweetheart and to renovate the old Mountville Presbyterian Church into a home.
Sim made fast friends of neighbors and business people of Lagrange and Mountville, frequently bearing Zinnias and Better Boy tomatoes to grateful people around town.
His family extends their appreciation to the kind neighbors and friends who welcomed him to the area.
Additionally, great appreciation is held for the employees and business owners who welcomed him by name, with care and concern until the end of his life: Mountville Methodist Church, Tractor Supply, Brooks Robinson/Synovus Bank, Faye Purdue/State Farm, Kyle Crawford/Buffalo Investments, Jeremy/ Computer Docs, Mack Reynolds Attorney, Abbot Jordon Accountants, Jennifer Powell/Magic Mirror, Keith Horne/True Temp, Jacob, Taylor and Paul/Garden Solutions, Elizabeth Williamson/Southland Propane, Lagrange Veterinarian, Jim Whitley/Belltone, Publix and of course, Ms. Clinton where he ordered his favorite Hummingbird cake for every holiday.
A celebration of Sim Blitch’s life will be held May 4th, 11 am at his home, 301 College St in Mountville, Georgia.
