West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) is proud to announce the introduction of its Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management (HRTM) program, designed to prepare students for dynamic careers in the thriving hospitality industry.
The HRTM program offers students three unique credential opportunities, including an associate degree, diploma, and five professional certificates, including ‘Event Coordinator,’ ‘Food and Beverage Director,’ ‘Hospitality Industry Human Resources Assistant,’ ‘Hotel Management Specialist,’ and ‘Restaurant Manager.’
“Students will gain a combination of classroom education and hands-on experience in the field,” HRTM Program Director Amber Payne said. “They will have opportunities to hear from industry leaders and shadow local hospitality employees as well as receive personalized mentorship in both personal and professional development, all while creating long-lasting connections with their peers.”
The hospitality industry caters to travelers’ diverse needs and desires worldwide and continues to grow here in the West Georgia area.
“According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 23.1% of new jobs are expected to be in leisure and hospitality,” Payne said. “The total economic impact of tourism in Georgia also grows 13% year over year, and there is an increasing need for professionals in this industry to support it.”
The HRTM program will be available beginning fall semester 2024 and will be offered at WGTC’s Callaway Conference Center in LaGrange. Core classes are available for summer semester which begins May 28. To learn more about the program, visit https://www.westgatech.edu/hotel-restaurant-tourism/
