Alice Vonciel Folds Bassett Powell, age 96, of LaGrange, passed away on May 7, 2024. She was born on Aug. 29, 1927, to the late William Marvin Folds and Lila Mae Miller Folds in LaGrange, Georgia.

She retired as the Coil Tester from the Westinghouse Corporation working in Quality Control. She was also a member of East Vernon Baptist Church for many years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, MSGT John L. Powell, Jr.; her sons, Donald Bassett and Jimmy Bassett; her siblings, William Marvin Folds, Jr., Jack Donald Folds, Jerry K. Folds, Harold Taylor Folds, and Mary Janelle Folds Siggers.

Survivors include her sister, Willodean Bohannon; daughter-in-law, Barbara Bassett; grandchildren, Chris Bassett, Lane, Bassett Shannon, Jim Bassett, Renee Bassett, and Craig Bassett; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

The family will have a graveside service on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 3 P.M. at Shadowlawn Cemetery.

The family will gather at the cemetery before the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Alice Powell to WellStar West Georgia Hospice, 1510 Vernon Rd., LaGrange, GA 30241.
