LaGrange College faculty members earn teaching awards

Four faculty members were presented with awards for outstanding instruction at the institution’s Honors Day ceremony on April 18.
Dr. Marci DeRamus, assistant professor of psychological science, received the 2024 Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award. It recognizes an exceptional faculty member who demonstrates strong academic skills in the classroom and provides leadership and support in other areas of campus life.
Dr. Melvin Hall, professor of chemistry, received the John Hines Jr. Undergraduate Research Faculty Award. It recognizes a professor whose work supports the college’s undergraduate research program.
Dr. Don Livingston, professor of education, received the 2024 Flora Glenn Candler Teaching Professorship. It is a two-year appointment and awards recognition in the areas of the professor’s effectiveness as a teacher, his or her contribution to the life and work of the college community and his or her service to the community at large.
Dr. Laine Scott, professor of English writing and publication studies, received the 2024 United Methodist General Board of Higher Education and Ministry Exemplary Teacher Award. Each year, GBHEM member schools select one faculty member who exemplifies excellence in teaching, civility and concern for students, the institution and the community.
