The Community Bank & Trust (CBT) in LaGrange is having a Financial Speaker Series in an effort to enhance financial literacy in the community. There will be five speakers, discussing various topics in finance, business and banking.
The first talk will be on business literacy with Wally Murray. Murray is the Senior Vice President of Strategic Advancement & Development for Community Bankshares, Inc. (CBI), a bank holding company based in LaGrange, Georgia. All talks will be held at the Chamber of Commerce and will include a presentation, Q&A, and some time for networking at a reception. The business literacy talk will be on May 16 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
The series will take place once a month throughout the summer. The next part is on June 20 and will be on community financial trends and fraud awareness. On July 8 a speaker will discuss SBA lending opportunities. This will be followed by a talk on USDA lending opportunity on August 15. The final part of the series will take place on September 19, however a topic has not been set.
Other speakers in the series include Steve Jefferies, President and CEO of CBT, and Bill Stump, Director of Community Banking at CBT. Chris Hurn, founder and CEO of Fountainhead Capital and Thomas Kimsy, president and CEO of Thomas USAF Group will also be speakers.
For members of the Chamber of Commerce, the fee to attend is $35 per class. For members, the classes are discounted at $20 per class or $80 for the entire series. Registration for the series is on the chamber website.
