One of the Troup High School students who was involved in Thursday’s crash has passed away from injuries at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Mary Joy Moosman of West Point and four other Troup High students were in an accident on Thursday on Whitfield Road. The car had crossed into the path of a TCSS maintenance truck while crossing Hogansville Road. The truck struck the rear passenger side of the car, and the car ended up in the grass. Two of the students in the car were ejected. Mary Joy Moosman was airlifted to Atlanta and put on life-support where she passed away earlier today.

“We’re keeping the class of 2024 in our hearts,” said Shelee Robinson McCorkle, aunt of Moosman. “Those kids have worked hard there entire careers and we want them to celebrate.”

McCorkle said the family has been thankful for the outpouring of support; some students wearing pink and purple bows as a way to honor Moosman as well as support another of the students that was badly injured, Hadilee as she recovers.

The family is placing a cross and flowers at the crash site. McCorkle said others are welcome to add to it.
