LaGrange Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire at 1401 Hamilton Street

At 3:30pm on May 20, 2024, the LaGrange Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a structure fire at 1401 Hamilton Street with an initial report of a bed on fire inside the residence. LaGrange Fire Department, along with Troup County Fire Department, arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke with visible flames. Engine 4 officer conducted a 360 of the structure and then established command and accountability. Engine 4 crew made an aggressive initial attack making entry through the front door. Engine 1 arrived on scene and completed a primary search of the entire structure and determined that no one was inside.
The structure consisted of a single-story block multi-family dwelling, featuring four individual single-room living units. The fire was extinguished and was brought under control at 3:39pm, six minutes after the first unit arrived on scene.
An estimated of $6,000 worth of property damage along with an additional $4,000 worth of content loss was suffered. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The residents were referred to the Red Cross for assistance.
