LaGrange Fire responds to house fire on Hines Street

CITY OF LAGRANGE, GA. JULY 8TH, 2024 – At 2:26 am on July 5, 2024, LaGrange Fire Department units were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 615 Hines Street. The initial report indicated flames and smoke were visible on the outside of the residence, with further reports stating that the front wall of the house was on fire and spreading.
Upon arrival at the scene, LaGrange Fire Department units, accompanied by Troup County Fire Department, encountered heavy smoke and visible flames. The E4 officer conducted a 360-degree assessment of the structure, following which the E-4 company officer took command and established accountability. The Engine 4 crew initiated an aggressive attack on the exterior of the structure before transitioning to the front door. Subsequently, E-5 arrived on scene with E-4 and conducted a thorough search of the residence, confirming that no victims were trapped inside. Additional units arrived and assisted in searching the structure.
The fire was successfully extinguished and brought under control by 2:44 am, just 11 minutes after the first unit arrived on the scene. The structure involved was a single-story wood frame single-family dwelling. An estimate of $5,000 worth of property damage along with an additional $1500 worth of content loss was suffered. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
