LAGRANGE – The matchups are set.

The baseball teams from Callaway, LaGrange and Troup will all be at home for the opening round of the state playoffs.

They’ll each host a doubleheader on Friday, with the if-games scheduled for Saturday.

Callaway and Troup each earned homefield advantage by winning region championships, while LaGrange finished second in its region to secure homefield edge.

Callaway (21-8), which won the Region 5-AA title, will host Chattooga (9-16), the fourth-place team from Region 7-AA.

They’ll play a doubleheader on Friday at 3:30 p.m., and if they split those two games, a third game would be on Saturday.

Troup (20-10), which reached the 20-win mark with Friday’s win at East Coweta, won the Region 5-AAAA championship, and it’s first-round opponent will be West Hall (11-14), the number four team from Region 7-AAAA.

Friday’s doubleheader begins at 5 p.m., with the if-game scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.

LaGrange (19-11), which finished second in Region 5-AAAA, will be a home against Chestatee (13-17), the third-place team from Region 7-AAAA.

The doubleheader begins on Friday at 4:30 p.m., and the if game would be on Saturday at noon.

If Callaway and Troup win, they would be at home for the second round of the playoffs on May 4.

Callaway would play the winner of the Fitzgerald and Dodge County series, while Troup would face either Hardaway or Burke County.

LaGrange’s second-round opponent would be either Northside-Columbus or Cross Creek.

If Northside wins, the Grangers would be at home, and they’d have to go on the road to play Cross Creek.

The quarterfinal round begins on May 10, the final four is on May 17, and the championship round is May 25.

FINAL RANKINGS: The final Georgia Dugout Club rankings were released on Saturday, and Callaway, LaGrange and Troup are each among the top five teams in their respective classifications.

Troup and LaGrange are second and sixth, respectively, in Class AAAA, while Blessed Trinity holds down the top spot in that classification.
