Cougars set for home debut

LAGRANGE – It’s game day for the Lafayette Christian School Cougars.

Lafayette Christian, after opening the season with a 37-15 loss to Solid Rock Academy, will make its home debut today against New Creation Christian Academy.

Also today, the LaGrange Grangers will look for their first win when they host Villa Rica, while Troup will be in Columbus on Saturday to play Kendrick

Callaway is off this week.

The Cougars fell behind 31-2 early in the second half last week before finding their footing.

Junior quarterback Landon Whitley ran for 114 yards, and he threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to freshman Cason Firth.

With Whitley out of the game, Firth threw a touchdown pass to another freshman, Nathan Karvelas.

LaGrange opened with a 26-0 loss to Callaway last week, while Villa Rica beat Central-Carroll 41-13.

Troup will look to move to 2-0 after beating Hardaway 31-28 last week, while Kendrick opened with a 40-8 loss to Northside-Columbus.

Callaway is taking a break this week after its opening-night win over LaGrange.
