Community Action For Improvement, Inc. will administer the 2017 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for Carroll, Coweta, Heard, Meriwether, and Troup counties.  All interested applicants are asked to contact the service center in their area by telephone on the program start date. Clients will be seen by appointment only, No walk-ins please. The program will start for the elderly and disabled which includes homebound households and adult members age 65 and up beginning Nov. 1, 2017.

The program will start for the general public beginning Dec. 1, 2017.

The LIHEAP Program will help pay heating costs for gas, electricity, wood, coal and/or  kerosene. One-time payments will be made primarily by checks issued to the home energy supplier on behalf of eligible households.

When applying for assistance persons must bring proof of gross income for all household members for the last 30 days. We accept paycheck stubs, public assistance checks, unemployment award letters, etc. Applicants must bring the Social Security Card for each person in the household and their most recent home heating bill and/or gas bill, and state issued picture I.D.

All eligible households must be responsible for their home heating costs. Eligibility for the program is based on the gross income of all members of the household. To be eligible, households must have a gross income equal to or less than

• One- Person Household $22,045
• Two-Person Household $28,829
• Three- Person Household $35,612
• Four- Person Household $42,395
• Five- Person Household $49,178
• Six- Person Household $55,961
• Seven- Person Household $57,233
• Eight- Person Household $58,505

For households with nine or more persons, add $1,272.00 for each additional family member.
