Looking forward to busy May

It’s hard to believe, but the first quarter of 2018 is already over. Today’s paper is already our 100th of the year.

On Tuesday, we officially transfer into May and into one of the warmest parts of the year. It’s also one of our favorites, just because of revisiting the memories made at high schools and colleges.

In just a few weeks, we’ll be running around the county to cover high school and college graduations. We plan to write stories on all of the valedictorians countywide, and our graduation section will include everyone earning a diploma this year.  It’ll publish on May 12.

Also this month, Great Wolf Lodge will officially open its doors and bring an estimated 500,000 visitors to LaGrange. If you drive by the lodge and see extra activity in the next week or so, it’s because Great Wolf is holding a soft opening starting next weekend. The official grand opening will be held May 24 and reservations are being taken starting on May 18.

After years of anticipation, we’re sure many locals will be visiting Great Wolf over the next few months.

And if all that isn’t enough, there’s also Mother’s Day, which is only 12 days away, and the upcoming election on May 22. Thankfully, it’s possible to take care of both of those items a bit early. Early voting is already underway at the Troup County Government Center, and it’s probably best to buy a Mother’s Day gift now, before it’s too late.

We hope to see you out and about around town, enjoying what should be a truly memorable month in LaGrange and Troup County.
