With Independence Day now in our collective rear view mirror, locals can expect a quiet weekend following the holiday. However, there will still be fun to be had for those looking for something to do.

A performance by Jontavious Willis and band at Pure Life Studios on Saturday promises to be the highlight of the weekend. The locally born and raised blues artist has performed on stage with major blues performers like Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo.’

“The album that he cut at Pure Life got Best Self-Produced Album of the Year,” said Maggie McDonald, owner of Pure Life Studios. “I thought that was exciting, that he produced it at Pure Life. It is really nice to see him going places and doing things. He is our local boy.”

The event is brown bag approved, and Papa Tacos will be served from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Dinner is cash only, and reservations for dinner are requested in order to ensure that enough food is on hand. Tickets cost $23.50.

Also on Saturday, City of LaGrange employees will hold a voluntary litter clean-up day beginning at Hollis Hand Elementary at 7 a.m.

The group will pick up trash starting at Hollis Hand Elementary School on Country Club Road past the bridge to Highland Country Club along West Point Lake. The event is part of the city’s “Leaving LaGrange Better Than We Found It” campaign, and the public is invited to come out to help pick up trash.

Market on Main will take place on Saturday at Flagpole Park in downtown LaGrange from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The market will feature locally grown produce and locally produced goods like jams and cakes.

The Friends of LaGrange Memorial Library will host its monthly book sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at 115 Alford Street. Proceeds benefit the library.

Finally, Wild Leap Brew Co. and Towne Fitness will host the boot camp physical training section of its Summer Sweat series from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 308 Main Street. The class costs $10 and includes a complimentary beer from Wild Leap.
