Chapel Hill tops LaGrange

LaGrange pushed a run across in the top of the sixth to get within two, but Chapel Hill exploded for five runs in the bottom of the inning on the way to an 8-1 victory in a Region 5-AAAA game.

LaGrange (8-3 overall) fell to 3-1 in the region, while Chapel Hill remained unbeaten in the region with a 4-1 record.

LaGrange had some success offensively with seven hits, but that only translated into one run.

Malone Aldridge and Hannah Karcher each had two hits, and Katelynn Mobley had a hit and an RBI.

Destiny Fitzpatrick and Abby Vanhoose had LaGrange’s other two hits.

Macee Stone was LaGrange’s starting pitcher, and she threw four innings, and only one of the six runs she gave up was earned.

Camden Smith threw the final two innings for LaGrange.

For Chapel Hill, Rylie Moody had two hits, including a solo home run in the third inning.

Kira Morgan got the complete-game win for Chapel Hill.

LaGrange will visit Central-Carroll on Sept. 4.

LaGrange and Central-Carroll are tied for second in the region.
