Labor Day is Monday, so this is your friendly reminder that you have two more days to wear white. While we are joking about what you can and cannot wear, Labor Day is an important holiday.

According to the United States Department of Labor, the holiday started from the labor movement and is meant to celebrate the achievements of workers.

Labor unions were formed in the 1800s to protect workers.

According to the Department of Labor, Oregon was the first state to make Labor Day a holiday in 1887. Labor Day was officially made a national holiday in 1894.

With most work places and schools off Monday, it is a good time to relax and think about how much has been done through our work in the last year.

The unemployment rate fell in May to 3.5 percent in the Three Rivers region. In May of 2017, the unemployment rate was 4.7 percent.

The workforce has progessed and it’s good to observe that and take a break.
