The LaGrange Police Department is investigating an attempted kidnapping that reportedly took place on the 1000 block of Stonewall Street Tuesday afternoon.

A 15-year-old child told police she was grabbed by a white male, who had a gun in hand, and tried to pull her into a vehicle. The child told police that the man was in his early to mid 20s, with dark hair, and she said he was driving an early 2000s model gold or brown Chevrolet Tahoe.

Sgt. William Nelson said the child told police she kicked and flailed her arms to get away. She said she ran inside to her grandmother, who called 911.

The child told police the Tahoe left in the direction of Fourth Avenue.

Nelson said the LPD has interviewed neighbors and reviewed security footage in the area, but at this point, has not found anyone else who saw the man or vehicle in the area.

“If there is anyone in the community who has seen this potential suspect or were in the area, or even possibly have video that we don’t know about, we’d be very inclined to want to hear from them,” Nelson said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the LaGrange Police Department at (706) 883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at (706) 812-1000.
