With a weekend filled with fierce female songwriters and farmers market festivities, LaGrange is getting ready for another stretch of exciting events.

On Saturday, Flag Pole Park in downtown LaGrange will be taken over by Market on Main. Taking on the style of an outdoors farmers market, vendors will be selling homegrown, fresh products coming directly from the farm. This event will take place on the corner of Main Street and Lafayette Parkway. Market on Main will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 11 p.m.

Later that day, Pure Life Studios will host three female singer-songwriters for a songwriter’s round on Saturday. The writer’s round will feature Jess Jocoy, Abigail Dowd and Lyn Koonce. According to Pure Life, all three women have an honest, folksy sound that will make for a night of peaceful, easy listening.

Koonce’s style leans toward blues and ballads, while Dowd has more of a soulful, storytelling gospel. Jocoy is a Nashville dwelling songwriter on the rise as a new heart, old soul musician.

“These women give a throwback vibe, sort of a 70s feel,” said Maggie McDonald, owner of Pure Life Studios. “Their music is easy going, with a flare of modern folk.”

Tickets are $16.50 or $5 with student ID. Pure Life is paper bag approved, which means that it is acceptable to bring alcohol to the event. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show beginning at 7:30.
