The Troup softball team got a much-needed win on Thursday, handling visiting Sandy Creek 9-7 in a Region 5-AAAA game.

Troup (7-10 overall) improved to 3-6 in region play while ending a four-game losing streak against region opponents.

Trailing by a run, Troup plated three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead, and it held on for the two-run win.

Skye Loftin had two doubles and two RBIs for Troup, and Lainey Braswell also had two doubles.

Haley Cotton had a double and an RBI, Avery Pearson had a hit and an RBI, and Hadleigh Livingston had a double.

Maggie McDonald pitched a seven-inning complete game for Troup.
