The red-hot Lafayette Christian School Cougars will put their four-game winning streak on the line when they travel to Columbus to play Calvary Christian on Friday.

Lafayette Christian opened the season with a loss to Central Fellowship, but it is perfect since then.

Lafayette Christian kept the good times rolling with a 61-0 victory over Central Christian  last week in a rematch of the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association eight-man state-championship game from 2015.

While that game in 2015 was a hard-fought showdown won by Lafayette Christian, last week’s game was a mismatch.

Lafayette Christian dominated the action from the get-go, scoring eight touchdowns.

Cason Firth led Lafayette Christian’s imposing rushing attack with 142 yards and three touchdowns. Jacob Karvelas added two touchdowns, and Ben Dixon and Nathan Fain each had one touchdown.

Leading the way was an offensive line of Colin Everett, Kamal Parham, Rich Millimon, W.J. Bailey and Nathan Hudson.

“They did a good job of helping us control the offensive line of scrimmage,” said Billy Bryant, Lafayette Christian’s first-year head coach.

Bryant said another standout player was Cameron Elliott, who played offense and defense.

“He’s one of those guys that’s consistently giving his best in the game, defensively and offensively,” Bryant said. “Cameron, he’s one of these solid guys. He doesn’t call attention to himself. He’s been a good player for us. When he’s called upon he does his best, and helps us out. He does what he does, and does it well.”
