It’s a quick turn-around for the Callaway Cavaliers.

After getting a big 20-14 road win over the Bremen Blue Devils on Friday, Callaway will be at home against unbeaten Lamar County on Thursday.

Callaway (5-1 overall) improved to 2-0 in Region 5-AA with the win over Bremen, while Lamar County (6-0) is also 2-0 in region play after outlasting Spencer 14-7.

Also this week, the LaGrange Grangers will host Cartersville on Friday, and it’s an off week for Troup and Lafayette Christian.

Callaway had its hands full with Bremen last week, and it made a late defensive stand to preserve the win.

Bremen had the ball in Callaway territory in the final minute when Callaway’s Jacob Freeman intercepted a pass in the end zone.

Jymere Jones did a lot of the damage for Callaway with two long scoring catches from Demetrius Coleman, and he also threw a 90-yard touchdown pass to Freeman.

LaGrange (2-3 overall) is 0-2 in Region 5-AAAA after losing to Cedartown 51-6 last week.

LaGrange was trailing 51-0 when Asa Leath had a touchdown run late in the game.

Now, LaGrange has to turn around and play a Cartersville team that has been among the best in the state for six seasons.

Cartersville (6-0) had a tough game with Central-Carroll last week, and it held on for a 16-14 victory to move to 2-0 in the region.

Troup (4-2 overall) is 1-1 in Region 5-AAAA following last week’s 44-7 loss to Sandy Creek.

Troup’s lone touchdown came on a touchdown pass from Nick Schweizer to Marquavious Kelley in the fourth quarter.

Next up for Troup is the cross-town showdown against LaGrange on Oct. 18.

Lafayette Christian, which beat Georgia Christian 51-22 last week, will close the regular season with  home game against Griffin Christian on Oct. 18.
