On Saturday, LaGrange native Sha’Blee Boykin opened Beauty N’ Mink, a salon in downtown LaGrange.

“I started doing lashes in high school. By tenth grade, I was doing everybody’s,” Boykin said.

After college, Boykin began realizing her dream.

The new salon is now open and anticipates a full grand opening in January.

Beauty N’ Mink offers makeup and hair styling, in addition to Boykin’s lash work.

She offers mink lash extensions in several variations, as well as lash lifting, henna tinting and waxing. The lashes are a niche previously unavailable in LaGrange.

“We didn’t have something like this,” Boykin said.  “People had to go to Newnan.”

George Bailey, chair elect of the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce, had kind words for the new owner at the ribbon cutting.

“I believe this business will be in Troup County and will go beyond, to everywhere,” Bailey said.

Surrounded by friends and family and holding the ribbon, Boykin was moved to tears.

Even so, her mink lashes remained glamorous.

“My daughter comes here,” Bailey said. “It’s great to have this. It will be an awesome business.”

Bailey said Boykin will be introduced at the next LaGrange-Troup County Chamber Early Bird Breakfast.

“This is what we’re about, economic development,” Bailey said. “We’re so happy to have her as part of the chamber.  I’m looking forward to working with her.”
