Adoptions half priced at shelter

Until Jan. 13, LaGrange Animal Services is offering half-price donations due to overcrowding at the shelter.

As of Friday, the shelter had 40 dogs available for adoption, with most of them being medium to large drops. There were also 30 on stray hold, meaning owners have up to 96 hours to find their pet before they become available for adoption.

With the discount, dogs can be adopted for $37.50. The price includes a voucher to get your animal spayed or neutered and to help with receiving their shots.

Through Puppy Pipeline and other measures, the LaGrange Animal Shelter has been able to find a high percentage of sheltered animals a forever home. That’s also reduced the euthanasia rate at the shelter to the point where it’s on the verge of becoming a no-kill shelter, which would be a remarkable accomplishment.

Every now and then the price is reduced to help counter crowding at the shelter, and this is one of those rare opportunities.

We hope anyone looking for a dog will take a look at the shelter first. We also encourage anyone missing a dog to start by calling the LaGrange Animal Shelter.
